Our top two ranked 1995s are in the warm-up for next week's Grade A. Both play Italian wildcards in round 1, with Kyle's opponent the stronger of the two, having hammered Jonathan Cornish in a final earlier in the year. If seedings prevail Kyle will meet top seed and world number 2 Hugo Dellien in the quarters
R1 (L64)
(WC) Pietro Rondoni (ITA) v (7) Kyle Edmund (GBR)
Luke Bambridge (GBR) v (WC) Nicolas Compagnucci (ITA)
Kyle's match is the lead news story on the host website - so you can guess what happened Luke's second round opponent should be familiar to him - the Portugese player just edged Luke in the final Tennis Europe under 14 rankings, beating him in the Masters.
R1 (L64)
(WC) Pietro Rondoni (ITA) d. (7) Kyle Edmund (GBR) 1-6 6-2 7-5
Luke Bambridge (GBR) d. (WC) Nicolas Compagnucci (ITA) 6-2 6-3
R2
(16) Frederico Ferreira Silva (POR) v Luke Bambridge (GBR)
Silva reached the semis before losing to top 1995 boy Nikola Milojevic. Luke and Kyle are salvaging something from the tournament in doubles though - their first combined Grade 1 semi
SF
(3) Coppejans/Lindmark (Bel/SWE) v (7) Bambridge/Edmund (GBR)
the boys certianly mean business in the dubs, won this semi comfortably aswell, i had a feeling after the early singles exit, they would put everything and really go for it in the dubs
Luke doesn't appear in qualifying for next week's Trofeo Bonfiglio Grade A. Hopefully his doubles exploits here have gained him a Special Exempt to join George, Olly and Liam (Kyle opted to miss this some time ago).
