He's in the weakest quarter of the draw and also he made the semis here last year, beating decent clay courters. I'd like Morgan to beat him but George has had poor results against the guys who have been around the block a couple of years. I'll probably be proved to be wrong but i'm just going with my gut instinct

Bet365 are covering one of the courts in Newcastle this week. Sean v Morgan will be later, but Oakley v Hewitt is on now. Ashley has just taken the first set 6-3.

Can't resist commenting on this LTA headline - "Fifteen British men line up in round one in Newcastle" - so which three don't count as British (or don't count as men?) confusebiggrin

The positive spin is that it is just a bad week and that it was on clay so doesn't really count.

The Brit scores:

Mertens (BEL) bt Carpenter 6-1, 6-1
Bloomfield bt Hudson 5-7, 6-4, 7-6(9)
Duckworth (AUS) bt Morgan 6-4, 6-1
Martin bt McGrath 3-6, 6-2, 6-4
Hewitt bt Oakley 6-3, 6-1

Oliver Hudson certainly gave Bloomers a run for his money! wink

*  For the record, Poch took out his fellow Spaniard, Santos, the fourth seed, by 3-6 6-3 retired, so he will face Toby Martin for a place in the QF, the only confirmed R2 match with Brit involvement so far.

Josh won a nailbiter 7-5 in the third, serving it out with poise at 6-5 after failing to serve it out at 5-4.
