SF: (6) Elena Baltacha WR 91 v Pauline Parmentier (FRA) WR 124 (CH 40 in 2008)
The good news: Elena has a 2-0 H2H against Parmentier, the first 2 & 2 at a 25K in Sunderland way back in 2005 but the second a very good memory because it was a 6-4 3-6 7-5 R1 win at the AO last year, and Parmentier had a very ropy first four months of 2011.
The bad news: Parmentier has found some stunning form this week, taking out (7) Voracova WR 116 2 & 3 and Begu WR 98 3 & 2 in the first two rounds before thrashing (3) Zhang WR 78 1 & 1 today.

Whahey !! Well done Bally. It'd be nice to know what happened at the end of the first set.
Yes, it would. Possibly the TF poster got the score the wrong way round or I misinterpreted it (they said "Barrois 3-5"), but whoever was 5-3 up must have dropped at least the next two games for it to have ended 7-5.
Bally had to battle for 2 hours 45 minutes whilst her next opponent Pauline Parmentier (FRA) completed her third easy straight sets win in less than an hour, so will be much the fresher. Bally has won their two previous meetings, the last being at the 2010 Australian Open, but they have not played on clay.
All the other semifinalists (Parmentier, Camerin, Cirstea) will overtake Anne if they win the title (but not otherwise).
Bally plays second tomorrow with the other semi starting at 1pm BST
Gives totally inaccurate impression of match in which hev had 2 MP's
Oh my, how can such a short article be so wrong, given it concludes with :
"Camerin will now face home favourite Pauline Parmentier in the quarter-finals of the competition."
Strange then both Camerin and Parmentier have made the semi finals. Oh, I see, they were right next to each other in the QF draw, Parmentier at the bottom of the top half and Camerin at the top of the bottom half ! Jeez
If you look at her recent record on ITF, it's hard to tell where this week's form has suddenly come from, but that's the 3rd seed she's put away easily this week.

Maybe Pauline is determined to catch the FFT's eye and bag herself a Roland Garros MD WC?
Parmentier has been a bit special this week, so this defeat was probably on the cards. Bally though has shown she can perform on clay, its only taken to her 28th year to work it out.
