Excellent win of double value from a British perspective. Apart from boosting Bally's confidence on her least favourite surface it stops Dolonts from overtaking Anne in the race for Wimbledon direct entry (which would free up a place in the list of 8 for a MDWC or QWC).

Likely to be the in form top seed Barrois next (she plays Yakimova first up tomorrow, and would stop the Belorussian overtaking Anne if she wins) so anything more will be a bonus. Heather follows Barrois on court

Bally has good memories of playing Barrois, the German was the player she beat in Shrewsbury in 2009 to seal her place in the worlds top 100 for the first time.

Barrois has been in exceptional form this clay season though, catching the eye with her unusual style of play and reaching the final of WTA Estoril last week.

Also very good (though surprisingly in this case I'd remembered it and had it noted down to use if Barrois wins tomorrow LOL)

Hev's result is a long time coming. Must have gone to 3 sets ? TF seem to get the results (probably from the drawsheets on the tournament website which get updated fairly regularly)

Beaten to it by five minutes! disbelief  Maza, the key stat to look for is the one at the bottom of the list ("balles de match").  That fact alone seems to make the defeat even harder to take! cry  AND the match lasted for three hours & nine minutes, the second set alone taking longer to wrap up than many complete women's matches (1:42)! eyepopping.gif
