R32: James Ward WR 217 v Conor Niland (IRL) WR 151
Pretty decent draw for James as Niland is having a very tough year (3-7 at Challenger level, including Sarasota). H2H is 0-1 as Niland beat James 3 and 3 back in 2008 on clay in a GB Futures QF. Niland has played 2 Brits this year, losing 4 and 4 to Evans at the Bath Challenger and beating Smethurst 6-7(2), 6-4, 6-3 in Casablanca ATP qualifying.

I agree that it's a decent draw, but James is actually 3-8 in Challengers this year, so is having just as tough a time.

yeh im not going to pass negative comment on here, on clay rankings can almost go out the window, a ice cream van man not ranked who is a clay courter can give a wr200 man a game etc
No has said, but what happened in Tony Mule's next game? I'm guessing that him and Dan Regan are two more Brits in the US college system. Seems like they aquitted themselves pretty well here. You never know, maybe one day soon we'll get a John Isner type coming out of this
Tony Mule had a bad day all round: he & his American partner, Eric Martin, lost the qualifying round of the doubles to the only seeds, Tomislav Peric (CRO) & Dino, by 2 & 2!
R1: Juan Pablo Brzezicki & Victor Estrella (ARG/DOM) vs (Q) Tomislav Peric (CRO) & James Ward
So James has had an early opportunity to get his eye in on the green clay of Savannah. Never heard of Peric. Anyone know anything about him?
