Very unfortunately, Lisa Whybourn has confirmed on twitter thet she will miss the whole grasscourt season, presumanbly connected to her previous tweet that her knee had gone again
Lisa, to me, would have been a definite Q WC pick, on ranking and more particularly for getting to the FQR at Wimbledon last year ( she will now drop all these 50 points in the ranking list after Wimbledon )
On the face of it that now means a MD or Q WC can be given to everyone in the very clear GB top 12, who is fit and active,
i.e. if all the players in the top 250 get into the main draw ( and hopefully Emily will be in OK ), meaning 5 MD Wcs, then the 3 qualifying WCs could go to Mel, Tara and Anna F.
Though I'd say none of the 3 is really shouting out a case and if Samantha Murray was to impress this week, that might complicate matters.
As expected GB have 7 within the top 250 in the June 6th rankings.
Emily, the one over who there was an element of doubt, is WR 247 on 221 points ( WR 250 is on 218 points ).
Elena and Anne are direct entries.
Heather, Katie, Naomi, Laura and Emily can be all be recommended for MD WCs under the top 250 criteria. I sincerely hope they all get them too, and I think they ( and only they ) should, but will the LTA have any shocks in store ?
Saamntha Murray is quored on the LTA website, following her quite reasonable showing in defeat in Birmingham :
"I like the grass, it suits my game as I can be aggressive. Now I'm going to try and get a Wimbledon wild card in the play-offs."
Assuming she is not recommended for a qualifying WC by the LTA ( and I would have thought she would have at least been considered ) I would think she will have a very good chance of securing one of the two play-off Q WCs.

After the last QWC went to Fitzy, GB no 12, I see that only 4 ( i.e. the 4 seeds ) of the remaining 13 in the GB top 25 are taking part. Almost all appear to be fit, though those 4 seeds are the only ones that have been appearing in the British grass court events.
Clearly Joss Rae is concentrating on doubles for now. Would have been interesting to see Manisha Foster taking part.
Win a QWC, win one qualifying round for 40 ranking points, didn't seem to attract quite as it might.

like sam murray to qualify for the qwc she seems to have potential. some of the other girls would be out of their depth. maybe lucy brown will come through as the other qwc
