Retired 3-6 0-3.
Sad for Anne, maybe her poor results recently have been due to injury. Injury not bad enough to force her to retire immediately, so hopefully not too serious.

What a nightmare, we can only hope it's just precautionary, but a very sad end to what was shaping up to be a very good week. cry.gif

Frpm Anne's Twitter feed

"Somehow, I managed to chisel my way through to the semi's here in Joburg but then I jarred my knee hence the retirement. Nothing too serious"

Hope it just needs a couple of days rest and physio.

She 'seems' to have played her doubles match though and it was called off at 6-6 (due to rain?)

To be continued tomorrow after 12.00 and the winners through to the final (also tomorrow) !!!!

Hmm you have to question the wisdom of playing doubles if you've withdrawn from singles. That said I don't know how critical the finances are on staying in the doubs or when her next singles tournament is scheduled.

Hmmm quite. I thought about the financial aspect too. She didn't actually mention playing doubles in her tweet; I gleaned that info from the tournament 'media' website. I guess if the knee is bad in the morning she may 'retire' from that match also.

I've just looked at the Fes qualifying list and she's not on it. Looks like she's withdrawn, sadly.

The doubles never did to get finished due to the weather, I think they completed the mens but the womens event was abandoned.
