Burnett beat 5th seed Larrière in R1, which sounds like it should be good news for Amanda, but the Italian with the Slavic first name and English surname hit a career high of 361 just over a year ago and won the Amiens 10K last month, which has resulted in a rise to 566 in the rankings this week.

Burnett is nearly two years younger than Amanda, it looks like she is heading higher.

Trying to find out more about Burnett and why she might have inflicted this thrashing on Amanda, it turns out that she's 3 months older than Heather Watson and she beat Hev 3 & 2 at the Tennis Winter Cup when Heather was 15 and she was 15/16. So the real shock is that she is only ranked 566 at the moment! (661 was last week, before her Amiens 10K win went on)

Edit: turns out her CH was 361 last year, but there's no evidence of long-term injury after that, yet she hadn't showed any consistent good form until about a month ago.
