Week 14 - Futures F2 ($10K) - Khon Kaen, Thailand - Hard

Draw out:

(7) Alexander Ward (GBR) WR 508 vs. (Q) Barry King (IRL) WR 970

(4) Daniel Evans (GBR) WR 375 vs. (Q) Gaetan de Lovinfosse (BEL) WR 957

(2) Josh Milton (GBR) WR 360 vs. (Q) Sam Barry (IRL) WR 1240

Not much to complain about with those R1 draws...

Evo & Milton should really be looking at a SF meeting, Ward is in the same quarter as (1) Udomchoke, who's way underranked and has been tearing up these Asian Futures in recent weeks.

L32: (7) Alexander Ward (GBR) WR 499 beat (Q) Barry King (IRL) WR 970 by 2 & 2 smile.gif
L32: (4) Daniel Evans (GBR) WR 313 beat (Q) Gaetan de Lovinfosse (BEL) WR 963 by 1 & 3 smile.gif
L32: (2) Josh Milton (GBR) WR 368 lost to (Q) Sam Barry (IRL) WR 1239 by 1 & 3 bleh

That's Josh's 7th loss in a row starting with the retirement against Fucsovics in the China F2 QFs in January a week after reaching the China F1 Final (in fact, he was 6-1 for 2011 before this 0-7 streak started) - and probably his most shocking one yet. cry.gif

L16: (7) Alexander Ward (GBR) WR 499 v Arata Onozawa (JPN) WR 572
L16: (4) Daniel Evans (GBR) WR 313 v Shiuchi Sekiguchi (JPN) WR 593

Ouch, not the kind of doubles result you want to see when Alex is due to play Onozawa in singles at 4 am BST tomorrow! cry.gif

Perhaps Josh just couldn't wait to get out of there ...

Evo is the only seed left in his half, he should really be looking at a final

Should hopefully be a much easier match for Alex than if he were playing Danai Udomchoke.

A very impressive run from Sam Barry so far, but Evo should have too much for him.

surely evo wont lose this semi pray.gif , barry has hardly done much in juniors and seniors until now, btw in evo's last four tournies he's 14-3. And after this week should now find himself back in the top 300 come monday week

Great if Evo could win the whole thing and become top Dan again, though might have a tough job in the final with one of these Udomchokes  wink

Ever since all the other seeds in the bottom half got knocked out early, this tournament has looked perfectly set up to add another defeat in a Final to Evo's unwanted streak. Well, I say "unwanted" - far better to get to lots of finals and lose them than not to reach those finals in the first place smile.gif
