Aaarrrgh! 2-5* - I know she is a fighter, but this would surely take Superwoman.

Ah,  2 - 5 *

Think unfortunately that game was very important to Heather retaining much of a chance,  just like I felt Elena had to beak for 2 - 4 rather than her match going 1 - 5 in her final set.

I'd love to be amazed, but I would be very very amazed if...

To be fair at the beginning of this match I thought Morita was the favourite, but when Heather got off to such a fast start it looked as if it was going to be a different story. Ah well time to regroup and prepare for the clay court season, where I'm pretty confident she will hold her own.

My mistake. Turns out her middle name is actually Miriam...

Pity  cry     And she made such a good start.   But it was a pretty tough draw for Heather.

She was playing a very decent player who's been in form  WR 57 ( race ranked 26 ) who just looks like she was simply a bit too good on the day.

Wow, thanks for the scores everyone.

You run of words to describe Bally's fighting spirit. Just amazing what she has achieved these past two years.

You get the sense with Baltacha that she has been in the top 100 long enough (and by virtue of enough tour wins, as opposed to the odd streak or dominance at lower-level events) that she really believes that she belongs -- with the result that she wins the matches she should, and does so consistently. It's the skill and the fight, of course -- but I wonder whether there's also some sense there that actually such matches really should "belong" to her . . . and she's going to make that happen.
