I have to say I have been disappointed with Katy's progress over the last 18 months. At that time she looked like someone who was likely to have a decent senior career, now I have serious doubts about that original assessment.
Nicola's win will lift her about 100 places to about WR 750. Let's hope taking advantage of such a kind draw in a 25K inspires her to further moves up the rankings and we don't see her still at 750 when the points are about to come off next year.

Great to see this year's real ( ? ) Naomi back with us with a very good win. You actually begin to wonder if she was trying something different ( as I recall someone suggested ) and err it wasn't working and she's reverted back.
Great effort for so little reward by Jade
As Steven says hopefully Nicola will kick on. That's a tremendous boost she has just been given to her rankings. I hope Katy can begin to kick on again, but she has still only recently turned 16, so still an element of time on her side to develop her game further before I'd feel more comfortable about trying to judge her future prospects I'm not sure how much of a prospect even Heather was viewed as at just past her 16th birthday.

Heather though was still making progress, and if Katy was making any sort of progress I wouldn't have made the comment. Still though time on her side but its running out if she wants to a top pro.

Katy, just turned 16 in her first senior event and time is running out. Isn't that being a bt hasty?
There were a fair number of (non-British) people who looked better than Heather did at an earlier age and are now nowhere near her in the rankings. I think it's pretty perilous to judge likelihood of senior success at 16. Hope Ms Dunne finds the experience helpful as she journeys onwards.

Yes, and even if katy has seemingly plateaued a bit ( and I haven't been following her junior results enough to really know about that ) there could be a whole host of reasons why that might happen for a little while to a young female tennis player of about that age. It's where she is and where she can still go that matters much more than some sort of linear progress line.

I think everyone is missing my point. I'm just saying that Katy has made no progression over the last 18 months, which concerns me. Yes she may put in another spurt shortly but I was just raising my concerns. If I'm not right Katy has given up full schooling so should be progressing at a faster rate than she is.
