RE: Week 12 - ITF ($25K) - Kunming, China - Hard

Damayanti has just beaten last weeks winner Zhang ( ranked just outside top 200 ) 3 and 0 in the quarters.
This puts Laura's performance yesterday in a much better light, the Indonesian girl clearly playing way above her normal level.

Yes, but she then got smacked up by the young hot shot, Diyas, who is only 3 months older than Laura.

(3)Zarina Diyas (KAZ) d. (Q)Ayu-Fani Damayanti (INA) 36 60 63

So difficult what to make of it all.

I'm not sure 6-3 in the third is a smacking but anyways.

I would consider a 60 63 in the final two sets a smacking.

Was the first set scoreline 6-3 a smacking to the other girl, so we had two smackings in the same match.

Yes, but the 6-0 in the middle set more than compensates for that.

In my book, that was a smacking.

Note for the future--your definition of a 'smacking' varies from mine.

So if had been say 2-6 6-3 1-6 which would have resulted in the same number of total games won and lost would that have been a smacking, or is it just purely because one of the sets was 6-0.

In your hypothetical scenario, the losing opponent would have won the middle set. This would have given a different outlook on the match. Whereas, what actually happened was that the losing player lost 9 of the last 12 games. Thus, smacking, in my opinion.
