kyle suprisingly forced to battle through, and a much needed win for luke
R1 (L64)
Luke Bambridge (GBR) d Franko Miocic (CRO) 6-3 6-4 (8) Kyle Edmund (GBR) d (WC) Guilherme Hadlich (BRA) 1-6 6-4 6-2
Also Quinzi is back playing here, and dropped his first ever itf set yesterday against the 16th seed, fortunaly he is avoided in the draw till potentially the semi's, where kyle could meet him. Long way off that thou yet
Luke's second round opponent will be decided today, but it's bound to be tough. He plays either Thiago Moura Monteiro, winner in Asuncion last week (moving him into the top 50), or the 9th seed Marek Jaloviec. Kyle plays a Spaniard Samuel Ribeiro Navarrete next
It is indeed the Asuncion winner who Luke plays today. George Morgan beat him in the Australian Open, but his only defeat on clay this year was against the Italian prodigy Quinzi.
R2
Thiago Moura Monteiro (BRA) v Luke Bambridge (GBR) (8) Kyle Edmund (GBR) v Samuel Ribeiro Navarrete (ESP)
Looks from his two results here that Kyle's just shaded off a bit this week, but his best still looks very good. And yes good to see Luke getting such a good win.
Luke's two best wins back-to-back (JWR 34 followed by JWR39) which is very impressive. Next round could be an even bigger hurdle, with the no.1 seed (JWR 4 and a 31-3 record this year) a potential opponent
R3
Luke Bambridge (GBR) d. (7) Karue Sell (BRA) 7-5 6-2
QF
(1) Hugo Dellien (BOL) or Kevin Kaczynski (GER) v Luke Bambridge (GBR)
luke one win from joining kyle in the top 100, however it is a momentus task against Dellien, if he does pull it off, im sure we will be getting more excited other than the fact he's made the top 100
