So the only GB girls to get through to the QFs were qualifiers.

Thought Sam could beat Falcon and its nice to see Lucy progress further( showed promise during Wimby qualies last year).
As for Naomi I'm hoping that these last two weeks have been about practice as the points on offer wouldn't really help her ranking. On the negative side it is possible that her purple patch was due to fast conditions at those venues which really helps her serve, we'll get a better idea next week.
Tara just coming back from injury fair enough and Lisa feels she played well in defeat so maybe her defeat yesterday was not as disappointing as first thought.

I saw Lisa when I was out tonight and although it probably wasn't the best time to get an accurate response as to how her match went so claimed she "tried her best" so I guess it was just a 50-50 match which either girl could have won but unfortunately Lisa came out on the wrong side.

Well, Samantha Murray managed to take 3x as many games off Sirotkina as Naomi B did, but the russian won 3 & 0 cry.gif meaning she has lost just 7 games in 3 matches. She has also won three of her last four 10K events, starting with the one in Spain where she beat Emily in the SFs and Naomi in the Final, so it loks like she made a big improvement during last summer and is not someone you want to meet in the early rounds any more.

Lucy Brown won 7-5 in the 3rd. Think the full score was 6-7 6-2 7-0. When I got there Ruutel was serving for the match at *5-4 although I didn't see too much of it as I was watching Boggo v Evans mostly.

LTA report Lucy lost to Sirotkina 1 & 4 cry.gif though of course that's the best anyone has done against the Russian in singles this week!

... and it continued to be the best anyone did, because Sirotkina won the Final by w/o.

It was a bad scoreline, but I'd hold judgement until the end of the week. If I were a betting man, I'd put a few pence on Sirotkina.

Shame I didn't find a bookie offering decent odds. I could've had a few more pence by now.

Sirotkina won several 10ks last year on a variety of surfaces, and would be ranked much higher if she hadn't struggled last year to transfer her good form into wins at 25k level and above.
