To be honest any of them. I have never seen Stephenson or Windley play so it would be interesting to know a bit about their games.
Otherwise, I'm curious to know how Elliott is doing, and whether Cornish plays any more aggressively than she used to. Also is Dean playing like she did at Wimbledon (all power little plan B)?
The trouble with trying to keep tabs on 6 matches at a time is that you don't get to watch too much of any in particular.
The first match I watched was between Amy Bowtell and her Russian opponent. Amy is a tall girl and had too much power for Katsitadze. Even from a break down in the second set I always had the feeling she would pull through.
Starling v Stephenson was on the next court so I watched some of that at the same time. There seemed a little bit of niggle between them and Starling was struggling with a knee problem. In the end it was Stephenson's consistency that enabled her to get the win. I saw Francesca around the courts and in the canteen afterwards and she had a permanent frown and looked very surly which you wouldn't expect from the nature of her tweets.
The next court over again was Cornish v Marackova. I spoke to Stephanie briefly afterwards and she comes across as a very gentile and polite girl. Her style of play is similar, and it reminds me of watching tennis in the late 70s, early 80s. I missed the first set, but started paying attention during the second set when the girls had a few disagreements. It started when they'd lost count of the score. The referee was called down to the court and the outcome, whatever it was, didn't please the Slovak girl who vented her anger by hitting 3 big winners in a row. However, Steph stuck to her game and her opponent started missing the big shots.
I watched a bit of Dean v Folland but not enough to make too much of a comment, other than to say Eleanor is a big 15 year old and Brigit is an 80% scale model. They play in a similar way too - both hitting with a lot of power.
I watched the first set of both Morgosova v Askew and Marti v Taylor. Morgosova as top seed didn't look very impressive at all, while the unranked Marti looked very good. It may have a lot to do with their opponents, but I reckon Marti will beat the top seed in the FQR.
