RE: Week 11 Challenger - Rimouski, Canada - $35,000+H

Oh God!  It's the serial Brit-basher, Freddie Nielsen, on the other side of the net in the SF:

David Rice & Sean Thornley vs (2) Frederik Nielsen & Travis Parrott (DEN/USA) bleh

Still, at least 15 ranking points in the bag...! smile

A win tomorrow would be so stunning that (and I don't usually say this about doubles over singles!) it might be just about worth missing Bath for! Especially since they'd have to do very well to pick up any points in singles there.

The banter:

DR: "clinical performance from me and @seanthornley1 today.semis tomorrow"
ST: "once again a really exciting tweet from @daverice2k7 yawn"
DR: "@seanthornley1 sorry the cat should be more like kept attacking during the tight situtions or onwards and upwards"
ST: "actually saw an emotion today from @daverice2k7 on the tennis court.... strange things are happening in 2011!!!"

What a bundle of laughs they are ... winkdisbelief

Still not quite in the right frame of mind but I'm hoping that most of my posts tonight have been taken in the right spirit as simply 'banter' such as the exchange above.  Despite Goodall still being in the doubles this week and staying out untill 2am tonight I'm sure it will have no bearing on his performance tomorrow and that him and Chris will stay have a good shot at adding yet another GB Futures doubles title to their collection

Not quite, they reached the semi there which was a good performance, but lost to Freddie and Kontinen 10:7 in the match TB. Still, that was close!

Parrott was top 25 in doubles a couple of years ago, so that's why I think it's going to need a minor miracle for them to get through this one.

So the minor miracle happened smile.gif

As well as being a former top 25 player, Parrott is also a grand slam champion (albeit in the Jamie Murray sense) - he won the mixed at the USO with Cara Black in 2009.

It was Carly Gullickson who won with Parrot. I guess their first names are fairly similar.

F: David Rice & Sean Thornley v (1) Treat Conrad Huey & Vasek Pospisil (PHI/CAN) or (3) Samuel Groth & Bobby Reynolds (AUS/USA)

Oops ... and Cara Black was on the other side of the net in the Final, which must have added to my confusion ashamed

Well done the two of them. That's a pretty remarkable result. Is it the first Challenger final for either/both of them?

It's the first Challenger Final for both of them - indeed, Dr No hadn't won a doubles main draw match at Challenger level before this week! As I think was mentioned earlier, Sean reached the semis in Loughborough with Willis last year, losing to Kontinen and Nielsen.
