I think those couple of wins might take Andy ahead of Fleming and not far behind Hutchins to GB no.4 in the doubles but someone might want to confirm that.

Andy doesn't quite go ahead of Fleming with the Hutchins / Fleming QF place in their Challenger in China just keeping Colin as 4th Brit.

1.  Murray J       1685
2.  Skupski        1212
3.  Hutchins       1015
4.  Fleming          974
5.  Murray A        970

Wow, particularly for Jamie himself for whom the doubles and the rankings points that come here mean so much more.

You had to think the match almost looked won in the 2nd set and again in the MTB  disbelief

Well, Dolgopolv and Malisse just went and won the whole blooming thing, beating Fed and Stan in the final  6 - 4   6 - 7 (5)   10 - 7

They do quite like their MTBs, winning by that method in all 5 of their matces, successively  10 - 8  10 - 7  10 - 8  10 - 8  and  10 - 7

Murray Bros of course were up  6 - 1  and  8 - 4  on them before losing  8 - 10.

Sky yesterday replayed a point from the final which would probably make the final shortlist for point of the year if there was one.

What this one?

It was a decent point but hardly one of the best of the year.

The only really good shot was from Dolgo and the winning shot was set up by a net cord.

Obviously IMO though.

To me the doubles last week was one of the highlights of the tournament as all the top singles players were taking part and more importantly taking it seriously. All the so called doubles specialists were wiped out and the quality of the tennis was higher IMO. This point I think summed up the high quality of the weeks action. The rally wasn't particularly long but each shot was hit with a pureness( perfect timing and power) that doubles specialists could only dream of.

None of the top 4 doubles teams made it past the second round.
Three out of the four semifinalists contained specialist singles players and the final was all specialists singles players.
I agree it wasn't a complete whitewash but it certainly wasn't 50/50 either.
I think it is fair to say that doubles players would be singles players if they were good enough.
People tweeting from the venue left you with the impression that there was a buzz about the doubles this year because the top singles players were making such a big impact.
