Robert Carter was down on the entry list, but isn't on the drawsheet. British interest is maintained though by Joshua Ward-Hibbert, who survived an extended third set to come through qualifying.

Kern has lost his last five matches in juniors inclding a loss to Kyle Edmund in Yucatan, but has a senior ranking of 1120.

The weather over there has been high 30s degrees.
