Mind you, their website has this down as a $15K event!

Not sure what's going on at the LTA, but they've got these results out quickly.

"Dan Smethurst and Alex Ward have both won their second round matches in Antalya. Smethurst beat Jiri Vesely 6-4, 6-0 whilst Ward won 6-3, 7-5 against the world No.364 and fourth seed  Marcin Gawron."

They are wins   wink

Results confirmed on the ITF site:

L16:  (Q) Jiri Vesely WR 865 lost to Dan Smethurst WR 442 by 4 & 0 smile
L16:  Alex Ward WR 486 defeated (4) Marcin Gawron (POL) WR 364 by 3 & 5 biggrin

In the next round, another qualifier for Dan & another seed for Alex, whose result I really didn't see coming! w00t.gif

QF:  Dan Smethurst WR 442 vs (Q) Andrei Gorban (MDA) WR 684
QF:  (7) Cedrik-Marcel Stebe (GER) WR 404 vs Alex Ward WR 486

I hope they can both keep their momentum going.  pray.gif  Meanwhile, Denys Molchanov (UKR) did for Roelofse in the second round. smile

Good day for Alex the Seed-basher:

R1:  (1) Siarhei Betau & Denys Molchanov (BLR/UKR) WR 816 lost to George Morgan & Alex Ward WR 1422 by 3 & 3 biggrin

QF:  George Morgan & Alex Ward WR 1422 vs Marcus Daniell & Michael Venus (NZL/NZL) WR 1131

*  Gawron was the second seed in the doubles along with his compatriot, Grzegorz Panfil, but he lost that, too, to young Vesely & his compatriot, Roman Jebavy, by 1 & 2, so bad day for him!

The Wardinator has played Stebe twice before, losing 3 & 3 to him way back in 2008 in qualifying for a Futures event in the Dominican Republic, and 6-2 7-6(6) in R1 of the Vicenza Future on clay last year. However, Stebe was in the middle of a long winning streak, having won his previous event as a qualifier, when Alex played him in Vicenza.

Sadly, Steven's (implied) optimism was misplaced:

QF:  (7) Cedrik-Marcel Stebe (GER) WR 404 defeated Alex Ward WR 486 by 5 & 5 cry

SF:  Denys Molchanov (UKR) WR 428 vs Dan Smethurst WR 442

They look fairly evenly matched, but... pray.gif

Im not really surprised the Wardinator lost to Stebe - I was really implying that I didn't expect him to get beaten as easily as the previous times, and both sets were very close, just a pity he wasn't able to nick one of them.
