Great. Really impressive stuff there. When she lost the second set, I did kind of feel that she might just run out of steam, but she came back superbly.
Naomi has already had some workload this year. Long may it continue!
Again first serve serving stats the difference here - 17 aces, 84% points won on first serve whilst only 23% points won on second. Great stuff from the Broadster.
Naomi loses 6-4 6-4 but only won 2 less points than her opponent. First serve % down on her previous matches but still an impressive 79% points won on first serve. Wasn't able to attack her opponents second serve sufficiently to give herself more break point chances, otherwise she would have won again. Now she can have a well deserved rest and hopefully not lose the momentum gained from the start of this season when she returns.
Pity Naomi couldn't take at least one step further this week. But it's been a very good few weeks and that win this week should certainly on Monday week take her back into the top 250, closing in on her CH of 231 achieved last November shortly before the late 2009 successes came out of her counters. She will also be up to GB No 7, quite close behind the currently indisposed Laura.
