Thats a match if Mel is 100% confident she wins 9/10 times IMO. Looking at the match stats the thing that stands out to me is the differential between % points won on first and second serve. In her pomp Mel's power off the ground and on serve made her a dangerous opponent against top 100 players. Her weakness was her movement but that was mainly offset by her power. These match stats reveal to me that on serve at least she has lost that big first serve ( 57% points won compared with 50% on second serve). If you have a powerful first serve you would expect nearer 75% points won on first serve given 50% points won on second. Until this position is rectified I can't see Mel making huge gains up the rankings.
Topsy turvy match JoKo looked to be winning her games more easily but Mlad just broke to go 5-3 up. In recent times Mlad has had a habit of winning the first set, dropping the second then coming back to win the third, so this set would have been a good one to win.
