Good win Liam. Been following you and your sisters progress for a while now. You will find great motivation here as this site id full of genuine British tennis lovers who appreciate the hard work our players put in. I hope we get to cheer you on eventually in the slams. best of luck to you.
Excellent win for Liam resisting a big server (20 aces).
I agree with Phil concerning the importance of our top juniors playing more ATP/ITF Pro events. If you look at the current ATP top 100 you will find around 50 of these reached the ATP top 500 during their junior years (including all the current top 15). The number of juniors making this level has averaged at 7 in recent years. Hence it is easy to deduce that the majority of those who achieve the top 500 during their junior years will go on to reach the top 100 at some point. The percentage success clearly drops off fast below that figure, so it is a good target for juniors.
George is currently 13th and Oli further behind the top 7 1993 boys, so they have a lot to do to make this target. By contrast Liam is the only 1994 currently in the top 1000
I find these very interesting and significant stats, David, thanks.
It is really good to see Liam making such progress and certainly the top 1993 boys should hopefully begin to make inroads in some futures. I would certainly hope that this year futures will very much get Oli and George's main attention and early indications are that this may be the case.
I would mention there is always a temptation to consider the juniors purely on a year of birth basis, and it is woth being aware that Oli was born on 29/09/93 and is much closer to Liam's dob ( 04/01/94 ) than he is to George's ( 07/02/93 ).
