If Cox has a decent run here surely it's going to be pretty hard justifying picking Baker ahead of him for the DC. Cox is ranked higher and his ranking is generally going in the right direction whilst Baker's seems to be heading the same way as Goodall and Evo's.
Very disappointing, but it is only Jamie's second loss in over a year to someone ranked outside the top 400 and the other was to Amer Delic of Bosnia last October ( with Belic being a former WR 60 who was unranked after being out for over a year ). Still, certainly not great timing
Although his ranking has plumetted it is very largely to do with not putting 2 wins together in Challengers ( which has left him really underranked based on who he has actually been beating and and losing to ). He has not been suffering the sort of too regular defeats to lower ranked opponents that Goodall and Evo have.
Jamie has also over the last 6 months or so played many more players in the top 300 ( and indeed 400 ) than Dan Cox has and his % record against such players holds up against Dan's.
From the Davis Cup thread, these two are certainly the only two candidates being generally put up by folk on the forum to play singles along with James Ward.
Dan does appear a winner lately, 5 wins in 5 finals last year ( even if futures finals ) including in Isreal late last year where Jamie also competed, and he has made really good progress.

For some reason (injury to one or t'other?), Philip & Lucas were replaced by the alternates, George Tzivadze & John Valenti (GEO/USA), & guess what? The alternates dumped out the fourth seeds by 6-4 4-6 [10-8]!

Dan and Jamie also withdrew from the doubles.
Wonder if Jamie's injured? Hope not. Hope, too, that it's not Dan C, either...
Hmm, so Jamie just describes its as a "poor poor day at the office". His "big scratch of the head now" has apparently concluded that for a start he should head home.

Sadly, not to be:
R2: Andrei Gorban (MDA) WR 686 defeated (2) Dan Cox WR 323 by 2 & 3
What the hell's going on with our boys at the moment?
