I've never known this to happen

Smet's strings broke on all racquets, apparently. Stringer not here until 11am! Now playing w/ Ash Hewitt's sticks, I think. Tough break(s).

Smet struggling now - has no feel. Balleret leads 5-2 2nd set.

Dan must be getting a good feel for his new rackets now.

Smet's come back to level 2nd set at 5 apiece.

Smethurst finding his range a bit better, but Balleret takes 2nd TB 7-4.

Re Strings: maybe he didn't have that many to start with? esp if he'd maybe have broken some during F2 and didn't get the fixed yet. plus i doubt these guys have more than 3 racquets prepared per match, it's not like they get the same luxury that the top guys get.

I've seen 8 year old kids turn up with more than 3 rackets before! Seriously that has probably cost him the match

Really bad break ( or breaks !! ) for Dan considering it looks as if he was playing pretty well and could have got a decent win there.

Second result of the day:

R1:  (Q) Jack Carpenter WR 1068 lost to Teodor-Dacian Craciun (ROU) WR 601 by 7-6(1) 3-6 2-6 cry

Jack clearly gave Craciun a run for his money, but ultimately didn't quite have enough to kill the b*gger off! hmm
