Boys: 2011 Australian Open Juniors - Grade A (Weeks 3-4)

With George Morgan and Kyle Edmund in the main draw there is a surprise contender trying to join them - 14 year old Isaac Stoute. I assume he is here for experience. He certainly has a chance against another 14 year old in the first round of qualifying, but the 5th seed (top 100) who lies in wait will be a different proposition.

Isaac is one of many at odds with the LTA as you can read at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=146585895379125

And I personally read it sincerely until...

"...during one of Isaacs tennis matches he received some particularly nasty and biased treatment at the hands of a chair umpire."

Which is an absolutely classic 'always the victim' line.  Hear this type of rubbish from lots of sports players/fans.

And personally I can understand why the LTA wouldn't want someone representing them who has "a cheeky sense of humour" - because this often translates into qualities of a less desirable nature.

This however is all conjecture and I am not even beginning to suggest I know the character of either the player or the father.  Just my initial thoughts on a heated facebook message... (As we have learned in the past, you never know who is reading.. evileye.gifwink )

Can Jo Public like me get to see things like the qualifying draw for juniors, because the Australian open main site only gives Juniors main draw opening next week as though qualifying did not exist?

The US Open carries the qualifying draw and some live scores for qualifying on its website, but for the other Grand Slams you can find the draw on the ITF Juniors website, updated on a once or twice daily basis (if you're lucky)

For the Australian Open go to
http://www.itftennis.com/juniors/tournaments/drawsheetbyround.asp?Event=1100130961&Tournament=1100023216

You'll see that the Casablanca champion Bruno Sant'Anna (who beat Oli of course in the final) has to qualify despite being ranked 15, as main draw acceptance was based on December 2010 rankings.

I hope that is what you are looking for

It can be found on the itf site in the juniors / tournaments section.

Edit :  could have just left it to DavidC   smile

Both boys have very winnable first round draws, but it gets tougher ahead for Kyle:

George Morgan GBR (4)
v Thiago Moura Monteiro BRA
Jae Hwan Kim KOR v Thanasi Kokkinakis AUS
Julian Lenz GER v Axel Alvarez Llamas ESP
Andrew Mcleod AUS v Mate Delic CRO (14)

Lukas Vrnak CZE (16) v Adrian Partl SVK
Nick Kyrgios AUS v Vladimir Polyakov RUS
Kyle Edmund GBR v Mac Styslinger USA
Karim Hossam EGY v Mate Pavic CRO (3)

Morgan has a Brazilian lad who took just 3 games off Golding at the Orange Bowl up first but is in the same section as Delic who beat him in 3 sets last week.

Edmund has an American qualifier without any outstanding results, and who Luke Bambridge beat in Austria last year. But Junior #5 Pavic will probably await in round 2.
