Success is success, no matter how big or small.

If a team in the Welsh/Irish league win a trophy there not going to not celebrate their success by saying they won a cup in an extremely weak league are they?

And Boggo is our third-ranked player at the moment. James Ward is the second.

it is also Boggo's 1st pro title on clay, even only a futures, but it's a surface he's notoriusly weak on. if he'd won an indoor futures, it would probably be regarded in a different light.

yes we'd prefer him to be winning at a higher level, but he's where he is now, coming into the season on the back of a fairly poor and a long injury lay off. i am sure he'll be getting back to a higher level soon.

On rankings. I would still say Boggo is the better when both fully fit.

I'm sure Boggo has targets set for the year, and this would almost certainly have been the 1st of them, so congrats are due

Yeh but saying that, had he ever bothered to enter a weakish 10K in the past 4/5 years on clay, i would have thought he would be a safe bet to win thatt as well, so even though it is his first clay 10K title, it probably could have been his 20th?

Not taking anything away from Boggo of course as it looks like his targets are being passed with flying colours which is great!

Must admit I'm kinda with spud on this.

Congrats of course to Boggo and Dan.  But it is one small step towards, certainly for Boggo, back to more significant achievement targets.

Hopefully one or two of our top players will be competing more and celebrating trophy success in a rather higher league of tennis before the year is out.

I guess that is meant less targetted at individuals and more at the progress or non progress of British men's tennis as a whole.

I really would in particular like to see this as a year of real progress for some of the still younger players such as the three Dans and Josh Milton.
