The main draw starts at midnight UK time on Sunday night, so entries will close on Sunday at 23.59 GMT, which is 6.59 PM US Eastern, 10.59 Monday Melbourne time and 00.59 Monday CET. However, if you were not in the top 250 of the year-end overall pick 'em rankings, there is a very small chance that they may close earlier - please see (*) below.
There is plenty of time to enter, so no late entries will be accepted under any circumstances. In addition, the likely need for sleep at some point on Sunday night means that while the deadline may (as usual) be extended slightly if rain delays the start of play, we reserve the right to close entries at any point after 23.59 GMT on Sunday even if play has not started by then.
MATCHES INVOLVING QUALIFIERS
Qualifying is due to finish on Saturday but almost certainly won't. The weather forecast for the Melbourne this weekend (see http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/94?) is much better, so hopefully qualifying will finish before the main draw starts, but it may well not finish until Sunday, with qualifiers placed around Sunday lunchtime UK time.
You are of course welcome to enter before that and pick for matches involving qualifiers without knowing who they are if you want to.
(*) ENTRY LIMIT
We will cap the number of entrants at 500 if more than 500 people enter, with the top 250 in the overall pick 'em rankings getting automatic entry as long as they enter before the deadline and the remaining places going to those outside the top 250 and newbies on a first come first served basis. Automatic entry for top 250 players only applies if you enter with exactly the same name as is shown on the overall rankings at http://www.freewebs.com/britishtenni...anking.htm?n=1 so please be careful!
I doubt we'll go over 500 this time because, but start of season enthusiasm tends to make the AO the most popular BOTB of the year so it is not out of the question. A link on the competitions page gives more info about exactly how the limit would work.
GOOD LUCK! (this is going to be a tough one to pick, so you'll probably need it ...)

And what a pointless waste of time it is. Half an hour of speeches then they put all the unseeded players in by computer, don't really show us then draw out the seeds and just show us who the seeds are without showing us who they are playing.
I mean, I know you can work out potential R3 matchups but I want to know who's playing who - and in particular, who Elena is playing!
What a waste of what could have been a really good live event.

Entries are now open (as it fleetingly said on the AO site - see the bottom right of the pic below LOL) - just over 69 hours to go!
N.B. The powers that be have now said that qualifying will continue on Monday (possibly even Tuesday) if necessary, so we may all have to pick qualifiers 'blind' this time.
With the weather forecast for the weekend still good, whether qualifying is likely to finish in time should become clear when the OoP for Sunday is released, i.e. if they have all the remaining qualifying matches on that OoP, then we should be able to get qualifiers placed on Sunday around lunchtime in the UK with about 12 hours left to make picks.

WOOOOO! I am IN. I am so IN. I need to win this year or else I'll be beaten with sticks.
You don't want to see me beaten with sticks do you? My life depends on this game. Please pick the muppets, I'm begging you. IT'S NOT WORTH KILLING A MAN OVER. PLEEEEEEASE!
Qualifiers now placed (after an unbelievable 7 hour delay by the AO site, worthy of the LTA or perhaps even Sudan F1) - you have 13 hours left to enter. Let's be having you!

Calling all pickem players, we currently have 3 team members. 4 if I include myself even though I haven't yet entered.
There is still time, the more the merrier people - we're defending points as a team and we need as many members as possible to share the load!!
Reeltime please join us - we have far too many posters who play for a different team (Steven being the obvious example )
I'm considering my position. Maybe I should officially retire whilst successful, before ignominiously sliding down the table into oblivion.
Well, if you retire you will definitely slide down the table into oblivion.
However, it you play one of two things can happen. Either, you continue to win and thus retain your crown and gloating rights, or have even more opportunity than anyone else to berate and malign the pesky players who will have caused a change in ranking through no fault of your own.
All in all I think you should play, and anyway pickems wouldn't be the same without your periodic rants against GEMs (or whoever is failing to do as you have asked).
