Decent first round draw, not so much second one.

Not jinxing it but the four qualifier spots play against each other, so potential there.

Anne's been waiting nearly 10 years for revenge here - Gallovits beat her 2 & 2 on Spanish clay in Fed Cup way back in 2001 when Anne was just 17 and Gallovits just 16!

QR2: Heather Watson (GBR) WR 176 v Corinna Dentoni (ITA) WR 151
QR2: Katie OBrien (GBR) WR 179 v 4 Junri Namigata (JPN) WR 112

Dentoni hasn't been in particularly good form, and her record down under isn't good either, so Heather should fancy her chances.

Katie has a very good record against Japanese Challenger level players, and should be able to determine who wins the match

Heather is on at 9pm GMT followed by Katie

You're right about Dentoni. Namigata is a bit more of an enigma - she lost to Elena and (perhaps more surprisingly) Tara last year but ended 2010 by reaching the Final of the Toyota 75K, which lifted her to this career high at the age of 28.

Brilliant, the women are yet to drop a set at tour (qualifying) level. There is talk of Jamie being injured though on TF, though whether theres any truth in that I dont know. Would love to see one of these ladies qualify, I think a good Australian swing can set you up for a brilliant year - seemed to do Bally no harm last year!

I really think Anne got a nice draw, its as good as you could really expect really.

Closer than I would have thought, puts yesterdays scoreline/performance into perspective.
Heather will need to step it up to qualify but we all know she is capable of that.

Brianti beat Bovina 2 & 4, so:

QR2: Heather Watson WR 176 beat Corinna Dentoni (ITA) WR 151 by 5 & 4

FQR: Heather Watson WR 176 v (q1) Alberta Brianti (ITA) WR 91 (CH 67 in Sep 09)

Brianti's penultimate match last year was a 3 & 0 thrashing by Anne K smile.gif
