QR1: Katie OBrien (GBR) WR 179 v WC Emily Fanning (NZL) UNR
QR1: Heather Watson (GBR) WR 176 v 7 Jamie Hampton (USA) WR 133

A very difficult draw for Heather. Jamie's rise has been more dramatic than Heather's. This time last year she was ranked 700+ and playing 25K qualifiers.

Heather's section the second toughest, but I would still make her slight favourite to beat Hampton, who may not be in the best of form.
Katie gets the plum draw and the softest section to qualify as well.

Oh and Hev kicks off at 8.30 pm later today, Katie probably around 1.15 a.m. tomorrow morning.

I think Heather's opening draw is a good one. Hampton may have had good results in home challengers, but has yet to win a match outside of North America. It isn't going to be easy for Heather playing her first Tour level match in Australasia, but it should be a help playing someone else short of experience.

Until I see that Katie has won that match, I'm still not completely confident. Which is slightly worrying.

I think Heather might win that one, although not easy.

I am actually quite optimistic for Katie this year, hopefully up to well within top 150. I know she has had some poor results but, she is still young and competes fiecly (the couple of times I have seen her play) and feel a corner can easily be turned.

The strange thing with Katie is that I feel just as confident if she is playing someone ranked 250 as someone ranked 900!

JC good to have you back on board, the livescore will probably be back up and running in time for Katie's knowing what they can be like, let's hope not.

But with no odds, therefore the match has started and they are relying on the same source as we are. Weather is fine as well, bit windy but dry and sunny.

Now dawns the season of our sleeplessness !!!  Oh dear,   but seeing as  we seem to be denied our Hev's match live I'm going to have an early night, and get some zeds in the bank.
