I went with the "indefinite amount of time" option
Seriously, Boggo is not one I see very easily giving up. It strikes me that in spite of the baggage that he has unfairly had to take on at times, he actually loves playing professional tennis.
despite the title i guess i'll try and answer this seriosuly.
it's difficult to say, i think if at some point Alex stops believing he can make it to the top tier of the game then he will call it a day, so it could be sudden. He knows he doesnt have to worry about future coaching roles etc as they will be easy to come by, but if he loses that inner belief combined with the weairnes that comes from 8yrs grinding it out on the tour then he may decide to pack it in.
having said that i'm feeling positive about 2011, he's been working on various things over the 2nd half of 2010, to try and impriove his match confidence (he's a confident person in real life), which inculded a trip to meet SAF & ManU players at their training ground.
Obviously the injury wiped out the back part of this year, but he picked up some decent wins in year (and the huge loss to Mahut; who would have believed prior to that Boggo had it in him to go 22-24 in a final set) and his return showed promise and he still ended the year ranked GB3 despiaste only having 10 counitng events on his scorecard. So with some consistency he can move up the rankings, and it will be interesting to see how he fares at these opening season futures. He's been working hard so far in the off season, based out at Saddlebrook nr Tampa, Fl rather than in London so maybe a better envirmoment for him to be in too.

As soon as I saw the title I thought that **** Vandenburg is back.
Had this insult come from one of the big names on BTnet i would take it to heart but you my friend are small fry, i dont think ive ever seen anyone amass such a large posting numnber without making a impression. Id even go as far to say that arvind parmer is a bigger name than you.
the truth is that excluding murray, british tennis is at a new low, but the majority of people on here live in this clouded world were they applaud averageness., the few of us who actually dare critisise players and slate them are branded evil.

Yes, you and the other 59 million people who have little understanding of how good you have to be to even break the top 500. You really are a desperate lone crusader

there you go again making excuses for our players. why does no one on here dare to be critical. i new someone once who wanted to be a tennis player, but they wernt from the home counties and tere parents did not vote conservative so thus he was not allowed to play tennis, the stupid elitetism that stops people playing tennis is also present on this forum.

Really ? It doesn't look as if you read the threads nearly a much as I thought you did.
I find plenty honest and often quite critical but reasoned comment on players, and I rarely see any decently argued criticisms getting shot down but argued against where someone disagrees.
I have in my time on the forum I think on a couple of occasions seen someone suggest it quite wrong that GB players should be criticised on this forum and we should just be getting behind them all, one reason given being that they could read negative comments here. I and quite a few others aregued strongly against that. It was clear that I was not alone in not wanting to be part of any forum that was basically a cheerleaders club, and this forum certainly isn't that.
I have also not been alone in on various occasions writing in different ways about what I consider the appalling lack of top GB singles player, especially in comparison to other big European countries, indeed some smaller ones. Some folk have argued I have gone too far, fair enough, but again different views have been aired. It is just not right to say that the "averageness"of GB players is generally applauded. Most of us wish GB tennis was in a much better state.
