RE: ENTRIES WEEK 2 - 10/01/2011

Laura's still not going to turn Aussie, but thanks for the WC    smile

Yes, I understood too that she had used up her WC entitlement under the AER and she isn't 17 until 21st January, i.e. after the Aussie Open starts.  Must admit though I haven't tried to work it out myself, bit complicated.

Maybe its something to do with the fact that once she was into qualies by ranking, it cleared the AER number of tournaments entry restriction, so they could wildcard her from qualies to main draw. Not sure about the number of wildcard limits though. Welcome anyway

That's an interesting one, I saw a tweet from GTC to that effect, but no other source for that.
My understanding of the AER is that Laura can only use qualies as her last tournament entitlement for this year. Also she has to my knowledge used up all her WC entitlement as well.
Saying that in her presser at the HC she said she was hoping to get a WC for the doubles so maybe I'm missing something.
The only upside I can see in getting a MDWC apart from the obvious is that it will give her more time to recover from her slight injury. I must say at this stage and the level she is currently playing at I would rather see her try to qualify.

OEM reports that unfortunately the injury is worse than was first thought and Laura will be out for 3 weeks, so she won't be taking part in the AO at all. cry
