RE: Week 50 - ITF ($75k) - Dubai, UAE (Hard)

Great win !! Agree with you Steven. Brits usually come out of the wrong side of those topsy tervy matches.

She can just go out and enjoy her next round with no pressure.

Any updates of Katie's start time ?

I put a small bet on Fitzy after the first set (at 7/2). Thought it was safe as houses for most of the second and third set.

Cool, well done! smile.gif

(note to viewers: don't worry, you haven't ended up on MTF by mistake wink)

Btw that win will take Anna back into the top 400 smile.gif for what must be the first time for quite a while. (her CH is 318 from two and a half years ago, before her injury problems started)

It sounds like it would be about 1 pm GMT but she's not on the court with live scoring, unless they move the match there.

Great win for Anna. I didn't want to tempt fate beforehand but I was confident of an upset against an out of form player. Fitzy looking good for next year.

Glad to see SMC filling his pockets at the expense of those evil bookmakers as well.

Great result for Anna. Should see her back into the top 400. Up about 250 places on the year. Not bad at all

Now upset tomorrow?

Up about 350 places this year, in fact, so it's been a good recovery. If she can stay injury-free next year, hopefully she can push through her old CH quite early in the year and head on towards the top 250.

R2: FITZPATRICK, Anna (GBR) Q 444 v GORGES, Julia (GER) 1 40

Right! All together now "Because you're Goerges I'd do anything for you."

Good point.  Typo (honest).  She's certainly finishing the year off in style, winning in Sunderland, then last 16 in a fairly high powered 75k

Assuming she's claiming the LTA bonus, this is the third tournament in which she qualifies for it - after Loughborough and Sunderland.

Anyone putting money on a player when they won 4 games in a row then taking it off again when they lost 4 games in a row throughout the match would have made a small fortune! LOL

Or the other way round ?    confuse

Good morning from sunny Dubai. Looks like wind has dropped since last night. Katie played on the court right next to the beach and the wind got up pretty strong towards the end of her match.  Fingers crossed for Anna (8am GMT) who has got the show court (court 3) which is good news  for us, the spectators, as its the only court with proper seating. I have never been good sitting on a bean bag which is the only option on courts 1,2 and 4.
