That is true. Surprising as I was told by two different French players that 1st round would be spread over three days and no qualifiers would play on Tuesday. I cant make it today so really hoping Katie and Anna make it through to tomorrow.

She made a storming start, went 4-0 up, but de Gubernatis has since woken up and it's now 4-4.

"In the warm up of my match just now a beach party started up nxt to the court blasting out xmas classics. I couldn't even hear myself think.

My opponent & I both started laughing & said to the umpire "What the hell?!" So the ref came on & agreed it was impossible to play ...

And so he just sent us off for lunch (on him) & told us to start the match in 3hrs when the party finishes. Absolute classic!

This tournament is becoming more farcical by the day ..."

Shame about Anna 1st set after such a good start. She tended to get a little tight on serve yesterday when things got close. Thanks for the updates Steven.

The party next to the court is so Dubai, lol. So now I am missing good tennis as well as a good party because of work commitments. Dont you just hate how work interferes with having fun.

LOL yes - I was working til 1 this morning and up again at 6 (it's a very busy time of year, I guess I'm lucky it coincides with the off-season!) and just tuning in and out of the tennis for a bit for some light relief before things really heat up today.

Anna has just broken for *2-0 in the 2nd, so she hasn't given up!
