So Tara evidently competing in spite of tweeting on Dec 2 :

"Suffered a setback with the shoulder so an pulling out of India $25k next week, hope to be ready for the $75k in Dubai the week after!"

and a week or so ago being bothered about her financial position re competing in India when funding decisions were apparently delayed.

Hope the shoulder is going to be OK and that she gets good news re funding soon.

Oh dear, this doesn't sound good from Katie:

"Think I may have played one of the worst matches of my life this morning. I expected to be a little rusty, but not quite THAT rusty..."

Rogge-Dietrich lost to Amanda Elliott earlier this year, so if Katie did lose her R1 match, it would be quite embarrassing. Might open the door for Tara (the other seed in the top quarter) though, if she has managed to make it to India after all.

I see what she means:-

R1: OBRIEN, Katie (GBR) 1 181 lost to ROGGE-DIETRICH, Elodie (FRA) 521 2-6 1-6 cry.gif

I'm going to stick my neck out and say Tara didn't make the trip. But how was she in the draw anyway if she wasn't there ?

As for katie less said about that the better, it now explains why she plays so many tournaments each year, clearly somebody that needs to be on the match court on a regular basis, otherwise rust develops very quickly.

Yes, given Tara's latest tweet I bthink we can assume she is nowhere near India  biggrin

""Finished for the day at Gosling, heading home for some much needed rest! NTC on Wednesday then off to Dubai!"

That's the shocker to end all shockers! bleh

Though Tara still being in the draw when she never left the UK is also pretty bizarre! And a right pain, since the quarter would have been wide open for her now.
