poll, which junior to reach the highest ranking in the mens game??

thought it would be interesting to create this poll to see what you think about our curren tcrop of juniors, and who has the brightest future. Without putting any expectancy on them, im not asking how high they will go, simply who will have the better career.

Oliver golding - british junior number 1, and has the biggest results , rankings rise, in junior and the mens game

George morgan - highest ranked junior out of the 5 in the mens game, but without any huge results in the juniors as of late

Liam broady - really come on the last few months in both juniors and mens game, and is british junior number 2, and a year younger than george

Kyle edmund - big results as of late, and at 15, he is almost a top 100 junior player

Luke bambridge - hasnt had that much action as of late, but has had big results in juniors

Very difficult indeed, as they are different ages. Plus, being a very good junior does not always translate into the senior tour.

I've voted for Ollie but I'll be watching all of them with interest.

What highest junior rank did all our boys in the current game manage to get too? Like the likes of Murray, Evo, Wardy, Boggo, Baker, Coxy etc?

So much can change that it really does seem like taking a punt at the moment.  Pretty impressed generally by the boys but just on what Kyle has lately been achieving at a younger age, I've voted for him.

You can get career highs from the ITF Juniors website. For the ones you mention

Murray 2
Baker 6
Bogdanovic 8
Evans 10
Cox 31
Ward 1280

Also worth including as top 20 is

Willis 15

it's really a flavour of the month thing with this type of stuff.
so i went with edmund.
but if you wouldve asked me after wimby, obviously i would of went with golding.
and if you asked me maybe 1 month ago, i would have went with broady.
things may change again for me after the next 3 big juniors tournies. lol

voted golding, seems to have a really big, solid, game. Shown he can beat anyone in the juniors, and compete with high ranked players in mens. Altough edmunds hamering of the top 1994 player and wjr 24 this week, is something really to get excited about

Good question but, impossible to answer I find. I saw Ollie play (and lose that day) at Frinton this year and came away believing he'd become a top 100 player. Kyle & Luke has put in shifts that hint that they can be the best of the bunch but, isn't that often the case with the younger ones?

^^yep.
seeing boggo, baker and evans' junior highs above reminds us that junior ranks don't mean much.

I'm surprised there are no votes for George Morgan, I nearly did, but I have never seen him play and I have seen Golding. George is the higher ranked on the ATP tour.

I also think you have to analyse the junior careers of those from yester year.
Baker didn't do anything at a junior grand slam until he was over 18, Boggo did reach the semis of the US open juniors when he was 17 beaten by Gilles Muller, and probably has underacheived as a senior for the talent he has. Evans again didn't really do anything as a junior until he was nearly 18. Therefore I summise that this crop of juniors are more talented and have done much more in juniors at a younger age.

Of the 5 to choose from the only one you can rule out is sadly George, much older than the other 4 and his results haven't been quite as good as the other 4 eventhough he is older. Not really trained on since his orange bowl success.

Not much to choose between the other 4, I still think Luke longterm could outperform Kyle. Luke has grown alot during the last year and is possibly struggling compared to Kyle on this front. Kyle also looks a more streaky player and is currently in a hot run of form.

Oli really should be in the best position but I personally am disappointed with his decision to train in Mexico instead of London where Greg appeared to be doing a really good job. I couldn't see Laura on the girls side compromising her tennis career over love in Oli's case.

Liam I feel a bit like George may fall short of a being a top senior although I can see a Boggo style career for him.

Ah. That explains why there are no votes for George, then.

This doesn't really belong here, but I'm not quite sure where else to put it. I always enjoy looking at the County Cup results. It's clear there's lots of commitment from a wide range of ages and current occupations (some nice results from Mark Hilton and from the Herts contingent at American universities, Ed Corrie in particular). But also noticed that Evan Hoyt was responsible for some key wins for South Wales in Division 2B. Is that the young Evan Hoyt? If so, not bad results.

I saw a bit of the Hilton v Thornley match, relatively high quality and Hilton would more than hold his own at Futures level.
