Actually, they didn't. wink  They beat Fruttero & Klaasen by 6-4 7-6(7), so I'm b*ggered if I can understand why they ended up playing the second seeds instead of Delic & Reynolds, which "honour" then fell to the beaten qualy doubles finalists! confuse

i think when a LL spot opens up they alter it so any of the Q/LL can fill the gap, i guess to stop shenanigans if a LL spot opened up vs say a WC when one of the Q spots was vs the top seed etc.

Yes, seen that quite often. It looks like what happened in the Paris Masters. Tipsarevic withdrew and it looks as if they put all the qualifiers and LL Russell in a pot and it was a qualifier, Nieminen, who took Tipsy's slot.
