Paris Masters 2010 BOTB Pick 'em Competition

Entries for the 2010 Paris Masters 'Battle of the Boards' pick 'em are now open at http://www.freewebs.com/britishtennis/Competitions.html

Entries will close at 13.30 GMT = 14.30 CET = 08.30 US EST on Sunday and because the main draw will start before qualifying finishes (*), we will all have to pick before qualifiers are placed.

Make sure you don't miss your last chance to improve your overall ranking this year in the final BOTB of 2010 and the 'easiest' pick 'em of the year, in the sense that there are 'only' 47 matches to pick. OK, so most of them are nightmares and Fed v Gasquet and Muzza v Numpty are possible R2 matches ...

Good luck - I think we are all going to need some!

(*) Admittedly, there is only one main draw match on Sunday, but next week promises to be so busy at work that if we leave closing entries until late Sunday or even Monday, I'll have no time to get the results sorted and you probably won't see any results until about January! ... plus the ATP BC hasn't even opened yet and is likely to close at 13.30 GMT on Sunday too, so I'm not going to feel too guilty about it! wink.gif

Paris last year doesn't appear to be a counter for you, so you weren't defeding anything.

Still it's a pity if you had trained hard and were really ready to go  smile

That'll get you a fine though... If you're ranked high enough, you're automatically entered so pulling out incurs a FINE.

That joke was too long winded... I apologise.

Starts off straightaway with the usual dissappointment and frustration. What the hell is Serra doing winning, and why the hell is Tipsy so damn selfish. Doesn't he realise there are far more important things at stake than his own third rate career, namely Pickem Points !

What on earth do you mean talking about "the usual disappointemt and frustration"  confused.gif

From what I can see Mr World No 1, you suffer an alarming lack of the disappointment and frustration that most of the rest of us routinely experience   wink

That's what's so infuriatingly addictive about pickems, no matter how well or badly you do, there are always a few triumphs and also the annoying ones that got away.

For the second time in a row,  a hot favorite pick pulls out late, and the late replacement wins anyway .. Good old Jarko, and in the other match , Aunty fails to win yet again. Note to self : Just STOP picking him.

What date and approximate time did you try to enter? (then we can check to make sure it wasn't missed if it did come through)

Or could yours be the entry that had no name on it? The only details on the missing entry (apart from all the picks) were:

- male
- over 18
- tennis fan
- entered from the UK (juding by the IP address)
- entered because they got the mass email
- Fed beating Duckboy in the Final

If you think that's you, please can you name your other two semi-finalists so that I can make sure it is you.

Every pick 'em there is a percentage pick that just baffles the hell out of me. I'm still trying to work out why more people picked Querrey than Monaco.

My guess: They thought fast court, American v Argentinian, only one result ... and didn't check recent form.

I think I had Monfils and Djokovic for the other semi finalists. Dont think it was Berdych instead of Djokovic.
