What's Dominikovic CH? Perhaps the weather played a part?
Her CH was WR 324 in October 2005, aged 18 And looking a little closer, I see Dominikovic was out from March 2009 to September 2010, so all her 33 ranking points have been gathered in the last couple of months. She's also had times out previously. She lost to Mel in 3 sets in Alice Springs in the 25K QF in her 3rd tournament back.
So not as bad as it rather first looked for Lisa. Very often worth a little more look into the opponent's recent record to try and put into context

I thought Lisa would have to play at her best level to win this, her opponent being in very good form. Lisa a long from home and maybe her first ever tournament in Oz, also playing outdoors, was the underdog going in but 6-0 in the first set not good, played better in the second, so hopefully can continue to improve and pick up valuable ranking points in the forthcoming tournaments.
L16: (6) Mel South WR 280 beat (Q) Ashling Sumner (AUS) WR 668 by 2 & 0
QF: (6) Mel South WR 280 v Julia Glushko (ISR) WR 327 or Gail Brodsky (USA) WR 400
Oddly enough, both the Israeli and the American whom Mel could meet next were born within a couple of hundred km of each other ... in the Ukraine. Mel hasn't played either of them before, but Glushko took out top seed Rodionova in R1.
