Great stuff by Heather, a 50K title, the new GB no 3 and probably now in the world top 180.  I doubt many folk saw all these achievements coming this year  clap.gif

Now, it really does appear that from 9 finals contested this week by the guys and girls ( 11 finalists in all since 2 all GB finals ), at varying levels, rather good in itself we have won all 9 in 7 different countries   disbelief.gif

That's    winner.gif   winner.gif   winner.gif   winner.gif   winner.gif   winner.gif   winner.gif   winner.gif   winner.gif

And that's not even considering Boggo's efforts this week!

Just got home from a busy day.
Rapt to see Heather won. Now just behind Elena and Anne is the GB rankings.

Playing a 75k in Arizona next week. She'll probably be quite tired, but seeing as it's her last tourny of the year, she may as well just run herself into the ground as she will have plenty of recuperation afterwards.

Well, I thought she'd done pretty well this year, but according to an interview with Tennis Canada, she's behind target:

I'm so excited because my goal was to end the year Top 150 and I have one more tournament. So if I play well I can get there.

I think they started with a lower target but when they reached it Dad just upped the target. smile

They've finally got Heather on the BBC news page, and still not on LTA news. Cuts, strikes, I suppose would be the excuse?

In a thread from last December  ( http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?aBID=61841&p=3&topicID=32862544  )  predicting the top 10 GB girls at the end of 2010 and their world ranking position, there was a fair bit of agreement about Heather's prospects.

The 7 of us who made predictions all had her ending between GB no 8 and 10.

Of the 6 of us who predicted her WR, 4 of us predicted in the 280s, one 224 and well done to murray 2k9 on easily getting closest with WR 190  ( what a year if a few more of his optimistic predictions had come in   wink  )

So, if Heather doesn't quite reach her updated target, she sure has pretty well blown away our predictions in that thread and I am sure many others.

Belated congrats to Hev, was following it, but with watching NFL action not had time to type on my keyboard.
Indy you could argue that Heather is the GB player of the year in that she has shown the most improvement, way beyond what us optimistic lot had predicted. Loved that her Dad has set her a goal of top 150, shows the ambitions that people closest to her have. It was probably made after the Wrexham win when top 200 seemed a formality, but a few slightly disappointing performances later her chances of reaching that goal looked remote, until now. The critics will say that in winning Wrexham and this one Heather only had to beat one top 200 player, but what Heather has shown is the ability to finish off tournaments unlike Laura, raising her game for the semis/finals.
Predictions for her 2011 ranking IMO should be like this year for solid not spectacular progress. Top 100 would be a huge huge effort so I would be aiming slightly lower say around the 115 mark.

I was spot in with the young uns: Heather, Laura, Lisa & Tara but way over excited about the older players :p
