That means she will go 1 point ahead of Laura, and probably (based on this week's rankings anyway) into the top 200 smile.gif

Btw I'm not sure why Heather was first on court playing R2 today when the other players in her section were still to play R1! confuse

Nice though once you've played your R2 match and can have a day off while the rest sort themselves out   smile

Quite gutted that Heather is above Laura now. Betfair had her at nearly 3/1 to be above Laura and I wanted to put some money on in January and wimped out. I was sure age eligibility would give her the edge. A missed opportunity.

Looking at TBE's table on tennisforum, so many of the players around the 200 level are doing well this week that Laura is already out of the top 200 (despite her points total not changing this week), Heather is virtual 200/201 (one of the Pliskovas was among those overtaking today) and Cav is currently down on last week even though her points total has gone up! cry.gif

Laura still has points to come off before year end so its fairly academic whether she's inside/outside the top 200 this week.

QF: WATSON, Heather (GBR) 7 209 v ALBANESE, Lauren (USA) 217

We have 10 quarter finalists this week, must be some sort of record. smile.gif

... and 15 Brits (10 women and 5 men) still in main draws going into Friday, which I'm pretty sure is the record for the years since I started taking a close interest, at least when there haven't been serious rain delays!

Women surviving in ITF & Bali singles main draws to Friday this week - top 4

1 GBR 10
2= FRA, GER, USA 9

Men & women surviving in ATP, Challengers, Futures, ITF & Bali singles main draws to Friday this week - top 7

1 USA 20
2 GBR 15
3= AUS, FRA, ESP 13
6 GER 12
7 RUS 11

Great effort, would be superb if she could win another title.

Wow, Heather can certainly keep going in matches, they'll be calling her Miss Duracell  wink

Anyway if she was to go on and win the title she only goes and replaces Katie as GB No 3.

Her QF win takes her to a nice round 300 points, but bah to round numbers. If she was to go on and win the title she goes to 338 points.  Katie meantime will be dropping back 11 points to 331 points in the next rankings.

It's a match up with her "bestest friend" Sloane Stepehens in the semi.

Sloane Stephens (USA) d. Jelena Pandzic (CRO) 62 64

Ordinarily, I would say this is a 50/50 match, as I rate them equally as talented young players.
But after Heather's marathon, she could be at a disadvantage.

The stream is at http://www.lovemeansnothing.ca/media/lmn-tv/watch-live but they're only just starting the 2nd set of the preceding match so it will be a while before they start.
