...AB probing but not permeating the Bemelmans serve. There were four deuces and AB had three looks at a 2nd serve - although I don't suppose that Bemelmans is dinking his 2nd serve in
...from 30-0 Bemelmans storms back and wins the next three points, a BP that AB saves on a 2nd serve. An ace saves a further BP and AB eventually squeezes out the hold.
It would appear to have been a weary end to the match. An extremely uplifting week for Alex and I imagine he will look forward to his solitary day-off (probably spent travelling mind!) tomorrow.
The big question is, is how is Alex's back holding up? I can't imagine anything but a Wednesday match for him in Aachen - not so much for his benefit but for his opponent's.
It has been an excellent week for Alex after a disappointing year. It would be nice for him to get some wins next week, not least for revenge against Bem. I think his decision to forgo the trip down under is the right one, he's never had any success there.
There'll be lots of tennis to follow next week.....
