Not the best of days in the doubles.

GOODALL (GBR) / INGLOT (GBR) (1) defeated MARTIN (GBR) / MORGAN (GBR) 6-2 6-3
MIDDELKOOP (NED) / SPONG (NED) defeated BURTON (GBR) / EVANS (GBR) (4) 3-6 7-5 [10-2]
CLUSKEY (IRL) / GHEDIN (ITA) (3) defeated MARIE (FRA) / WOLF (ITA) 6-1 6-4
KONTINEN (FIN) / NIEMINEN (FIN) (2) defeated COCHRANE (GBR) / GABB (GBR) 3-6 6-0 [12-10]

Just Goodall and Inglot to fly the flag.

Tough one to call but on current form I would make Dan the slight favourite.

Dan won 6-1, 3-6, 7-5

He plays Middelkoop next.

The other semi is Fabbiano against Zopp (who beat Kontinen 1 and 1)

He also lost against George Morgan in Glasgow the week before that.

He is however yet to drop a set this week and was equally strong last week until meeting Ebden in the semis.

Not likely to be an easy match for Dan but it is certainly a winnable one.

Wouldnt go near thinking Evo for Davis Cup for another 5 years after his performances there!!

I don't think anyone is going to pretend that his Davis Cup performances to date have been anything other than poor but if he is playing well he should get another shot at some point in the not too distant future.

I wouldn't even think about picking the team for the next tie until we see how all of the guys in contention start next year.

Actually the Berankis match was possibly the best i've ever personally seen him play

You have to bear in mind that Jamie Baker was a hurried late addition for the tournament, having just returned form America, while Dan has been playing several domestic tournaments and is more bedded in. It is far too early to be talking DC selection on the strength of this result. Tight match though.

Middlekoop was wearing a heavy strapping last week so it looks like he has been having injury problems. Some of these old results may reflect that, but Dan is good enough to beat him even he is at full fitness. On the other hand........

I didn't see that match but I did hear good things about his performance. I guess it is one of those ironies, had he played rubbish against Berankis and got beat in three sets and then gone on to just beat Grigelis no one would have had a go at him. As it was he lost two close matches and got slaughtered for it.
