It's not a competition LOL ... I'll delete my post, but leave on record here my "just when the top quarter was beginning to look a bit easier" comment re. Mecir double bagelling Feaver. ashamed

No disrespect to Feaver, but he was never going to throw up much of a challenge against Mecir, I feel Feaver might have a bit of an inflated ranking as most of his points have come from weak futures which in my opinion is a great way to pick up points, not sure why more other players do it. I still feel a Brit will qualify from the top quarter

Chris Priddle was replaced by Daniel Sidaway, and it was the latter who lost to Lewis Burton.

Only one doubles result today:

R1:  Toby Martin & George Morgan UNR defeated Fares Ghasya (LBA) & Daniel Sidaway UNR by 7-6(4) 6-4

so to them falls the dubious honour of taken on the top seeds, Goody & Dom (WR 381), in the QF...

He is certainly favourite but both Dan and Jamie are capable of beating him if they play their best.

Wouldn't argue with that, but these are Brits we're talking about!  Can they? Will they?   frustrated.gif I'd like to think so, but all I can do is pray.gif!

David Rice and Dan Smethurst were both direct entries but didn't show up, I presume injured(?) Does anybody know what's up with them and whether we'll see them again this year?

Kontinen's form has been a bit questionable after coming back from the injury. Good to see him playing here and getting some match experience though!

Evans won 6-0, 6-4

Baker won 7-6(3), 6-4

Burton lost 3-6, 3-6

Milton lost 6-3, 5-7, 2-6

Slabinsky lost 4-6, 3-6

Apart from the top quarter where Evans plays Baker all 6 seeded player have reached the Quarter Finals.

I think I am writing in saying that Evans and Baker have never played one another before.

Daniel Evans WR 347 def. Takanyi Garangana WR 671 6-0, 6-4 smile
Jamie Baker WR 338 def. Miroslav Mecir (7) WR 329 7-6, 6-4 biggrin
Lewis Burton WR1648 lost to Matkwe Middelkoop (3) WR291 3-6, 4-6 cry
Josh Milton WR405 lost to Thomas Fabbiano (8) WR 331 6-3, 5-7, 2-6 cry
Alex Slabisnky WR502 lost to Jurgen Zopp (5) WR 296 4-6, 3-6 cry

QF: Daniel Evans WR 347 vs. Jamie Baker WR 338

So guranteed semi-finalist then. With potential SF opponent's being Middelkoop (3) or Ghedin (6) both whom our boys are capable of beating.

As regards to the other brits, Slabba's and Burton's loss came as no surprises, was hoping Milton could shock Fabbiano, but it's good to see he can challenge the seeds as he can within 2 games of victory. So a good day i'd say
