That is one dire draw - no GB seeds in a home Futures event, mainly due to Ebden and Kontinen playing here, probably because there are no Challengers in Europe.
Indeed, of the 24 GB men in main draws around the world this week, only 3 are seeded (Thornley & Willis in GRE, Wardinator in TUR) and 2 of them crashed out on Monday morning.
It would be a good week to have some upsets!

You have at least one, Steven:
R1: Takanyi Garanganga (ZIM) WR 671 defeated (1) Matthew Ebden (AUS) by 7-5 5-4 rtd
Early July re Coxy posted : "one of the worst players in the top 1000 at the moment ". And off went Dan from the next week.
Last week re Garanganga : " easily the worst player with a top 1000 ranking I've ever seen"
It's uncanny No offense meant mate, I just find it quite amusing.
Hope for Evo and maybe Jamie's sake Garanganga isn't on too much of an upwardly mobile path Though before today he did win a futures title in Uganda in September and took the aforementioned Coxy to 3 sets last week in Glasgow.

Good win for Dan, although tough luck for Josh who could really do with a kind draw to get himself back in winning habit. He has now lost 6 on the bounce and has only won 1 match from 9 since reaching the final at Frinton.
I hope Ebden's relatively ok, but it's got to be great news for the Brits that he is out!
Possibly fatigued related, it was his 8th day in a row where he has played and he had a trip from Glasgow to Cardiff
Yes, that could be it. Although presumably he felt not bad after Glasgow to put himself through qualifiers in Cardiff without a break. Also, if that's "all" it was, I would hope he didn't retire when Garanganga was serving for the match, which would be kind of naughty although he wouldn't be the first.
