I've been wondering for a while now, what does the 17 in "F17" signify?

Bah Ebden.   I mean we didn't have anyone down in Australia last Autumn cleaning up in your futures.  Oh, OK....

Well but you're a big boy now and should be playing with the big boys.  Yeah...

So how come none of the other mens/womens/juniors tours bother to count them, or is just on here?

No, not just on here.  I don't know for sure why in particular all countries' futures are numbered through the year but they are.  I guess it gives an easy reference to each futures tournament ( eg. Japan F10 ) when futures are much more numerous than say Challengers, which are also probably often known for their particular town / city.

See the ATP page listing this week's challengers and futures :

Before last week he had only played 2 futures events, both were in Australia in February and at the time he was still outside the top 200.

Would it be uncharitable to hope that he had a rotten trip from Glasgow down to Cardiff and isn't in a good frame of mind to play today?

If BBD is here for the doubles, maybe he's received a wildcard into the main draw?

would be a disgrace if they gave BBD a WC when they make quality players like Ebden go through qualies.
