I could understand players being upset if the opponent retired when serving for the match at a big event, final etc. But honestly in round 1 of a futures event I would not be able to get off the court quick enough, puts the win in the bag without the nerves of having to serve for it. Just a thought

Yes, I do see your point. I guess Garanganga is not evermore going to hold grudges that he couldn't serve out a win against the no 1 seed in the first round of a Cardiff futures.
Think Baker changed his mind about playing challenger qualifying..is off to Israel next week
i maybe mis-remembering, but i am sure someone esle has done this kinda of thing recently, or maybe it was jamie, taking WC's in home events when they would have been a DA if they'd entered on time.
On a side note if Boggo isnt a DA at Loughborough what chance him getting a WC?

He probably should although I can see a case for saying no, especially if it was a choice between say Boggo and Daniel Cox who should be rewarded for his good efforts in futures events over the last few months.
if Boggo's not a DA then only Ward would be, so with 3 available i don't think it would be a case of him taking one way from Cox particularly, but I'd be intrigued to see if it came down to a decision between Boggo and Baker who they'd go for.

Yes, I agree, there's no comparison with Floppy doing it against Wardy at Eastbourne when all he had to do was stand there like a lemon and let the ball go past him 4 times to let James have his moment in the sun.

Boggo is only 7 out, with the 2 SE's likely to clear and the majority of Alt's being on the other challengers think there's 3 HC Challengers in Europe that week. The likelihood is that Boggo will probs get in anyways. If not i can see the qualifying lists being relatively weak. All the Alts are down to play elsewhere too so not all of them will turn up in the UK. My guess that they will leave the higher ranked guys to qualify i.e. Bloomfield, Baker, Evans, Boggo if need be as hopefully they will be in a position to be seeded to qualify. I think they will definetly give to Cox, probably Milton too and possibly Alex Ward depending on his form, maybe one of the young guys like Golding as it's the end of the year and he's had a great year. Did they not give a youngster one last year? Like Maraselek?
