RE: Week 42 - Futures F16 ($10K) - Glasgow, UK - Indoor Hard

Yep, Josh has been grumbling about having to spend his birthday travelling by train up to Glasgow today. Lot of Brit action here. :)

Looking forward to this week's event. I'll be there for a few days from Tuesday onwards doing a spot of freelance work, so I will put latest results on here as usual.

Will also be on Twitter with some points of interest from Scotstoun so feel free to follow: http://www.twitter.com/stu_fraser

Judy tweets: "At Scotstoun Futures 2 watch OMara. He's drawn an indian called Kumar. From no 42? 6-0 in 15 mins. This guy wud struggle to make the mens 3rd team at Dunblane. How did he get in a Futures qualifying?"

Ah well, Mr Kumar's claim to fame will now be that Andy Murray's mother called him utterly useless!

The ITF has detailed information on Mr Kumar

http://www.itftennis.com/mens/players/player.asp?player=100168982

He did indeed lose 6-0, 6-0

In less amusing news Gabb and Burton both lost in 3 sets.

Great to see Jonny O'Mara pop up, he plays at a David Lloyd club I used to manage and got coached by Leon Smith as well as a local coach called Mark Walker. I used to watch him hit when he was 12/13 years old and he was unbelievably good. It would be great to see him do well this week. I may been pop down to Glasgow for a couple of days if he is still in the draw.

Bugby, Cochrane, Thornton-Brown, Soulsby & Hignett all British winners today.

Pritchard & Tutu both into the main draw as lucky losers.

Main draw and Qualifying results are up on the ITF site. In Q Bugby beat Pritchard but Pritchard got in as a lucky looser. O'Mara lost to Griekspoor 6-1 7-5. Thornton -Brown beat Tutu but Marshall too gets a LL spot. Other wins for Cochrane, Soulsby, and Hignett.

Interesting matches tomorrow in the main draw. Top seed Ebden faces George Morgan. Josh Milton plays Galvani, the third seed, and Josh Goodall faces the Italian seventh seed Fabbiano. Elasewhere, Cox plays Garanganga, Pritchard v Mecir(6), Middlecoop(4) v Priddle, Martin v Vilardo, Tutu v Nieminen, Evo v Thornton-Brown, Farquarson v Simon of Germany,
Cochrane v Soulsby, Feaver v Bugby.

A lot of British interest in the Men's tournament then!

Isn't this a $15k rather than a $10k event? Certainly the draw strength would suggest so!
