Week 41 - Futures F26 ($15K) - Austin TX, USA - Hard

QR1: (q3) Matthew Short WR 1086 v Jordan Wasden (USA) UNR

Matthew is the only ranked player in his section. Myles Blake was 2nd Alt so should be in the main draw.

Kudla's one of the top juniors - no.7 in the world.  So may be a tricky one.

For the sake of this site's punmeisters, let's hope that Short/Cox becomes a regular doubles partnership...

Good job you didn't include Eaton in that pun.

Somehow Chris Eaton's defeat in the singles comes as no great surprise. hmm

Revenge of sorts in the doubles:

R1:  (WC) David Corrie & Alex Hilliard (USA) UNR defeated (2) Yuki Bhambri & Denis Kudla (IND/USA) WR 1036 by 6-0 7-6(2) biggrin

QF:  Roman Borvanov (MDA) & Chris Eaton WR 1221 vs (WC) David Corrie & Alex Hilliard (USA) UNR

That should be Edward Corrie, not David Corrie.  (David hasn't played pro since 2006)

Wonder why Edward wasn't in the singles?

That's seems an excellent over Bhambri & Kudla though. smile

1)  I did wonder, but merely typed out what I saw on the draw sheet! ashamed

2)  Not sure what was going on there:  Bhambri was seeded fourth in the singles, but in the event, didn't play & his place was taken by a LL! confuse

I just looked on the ATP drawsheet, and it now says..

CORRIE, Edward / HILLIARD, Alex beat BATES, Joe / MICHALICKA, Marek (UNR) 6-0 7-6(2)

So it's not such an impressive result. blankstare.gif  oh well
