Steve, do we have a record for the combined age of the two players involved in a WTA (or ATP) final?
I'm not Steve (or Steven ) and don't have a definitive answer but may be able to help
When Kimiko won the Korean Open last year she became the second oldest winner on the WTA Tour, behind Billie Jean King winning Birmingham in 1983. BJK was 39 and beat a 22 year old, so their combined age is nowhere near that of Kimiko and Tamarine (73 yrs 5/6 months). The only other winner aged over 35 on the WTA Tour was Martina Navratilova. I've checked all her finals since she turned 35, and the highest total was 67 (against Zina Garrison-Jackson)
Hence this is almost certainly, but not definitely, the highest combined age WTA final, and Kimiko would be the oldest ever winner of a title. However the ATP can beat both records.
When Ken Rosewall won his last title in 1977 (Hong Kong) he was 43yrs 11 days (officially the oldest winner on either Tour) and his opponent Tom Gorman was 30 yrs 10 months, so their total of 73 yrs 11 months beats this, and may well be the largest on either Tour, but I haven't checked other candidates.
