Unlucky draw for poor Mandy, who will meet Laine in R2 if she wins. Only Fitzy looks to be in a reasonable position to qualify, though lost easily to Borthwick in the Wrexham BT so maybe not on top form...
It is very sad. Hopefully she will rise above it. Anne has been part of an upturn in women's tennis in the last few years and it is sad that she has been treated in this way. Obviously nobody should be treated in this way, but she is a peculiar target for the knuckleheads, given her willingness to represent the country (even when not fully fit).

A tough draw for Anne. However, when checking to see how Pervak had got on since she beat Laura in the AO, I noticed something slightly anomalous on her record. A career high of 86 in August, but she's never won a tournament. It got me wondering what the record for this was?
There is some old information on this thread at TF, but many of those have won since. Only two are ahead of Pervak: Julia Schruff at 81 and Cibulkova astonishingly reached no. 12 (and only won 2 tournaments in her junior career)
I wonder what the British record is? Lisa Whybourn at 284 is the highest of the current top 25 but has plenty of time to correct that.

Borthwick was delighted to go through to tomorrow for a final qualifying match. She said: I was feeling quite confident going into the match after winning a tournament on the British Tour last week.
After losing the first set in my first match I thought I came back pretty well and I was also 5-1 down in the second set in my last match, so I really think that the confidence helped me pull through.
I think I can challenge again tomorrow. I'm playing the number one seed so youve got to give her respect for that so its going to be a tough match but hopefully I can trouble her a little bit.
